This was an exceptional buy from the cover of the book with one chair that doesn't match the others in a row to a poem my 84 year old father's favorite (about those who "lift and those who lean"). This poetry was first published in the 1800's. My father learned and remembered a poem taught in his very very rural school about there being only two kinds of people in the world. He remembered this poem and still can recite most of it from memory. He is one of a kind like the cover of the book.You can imagine his surprise when he received this present that allowed him to not only have a copy of his favorite poem, but to review some of her other poems that he had never known.
I have to admit that I like this woman's poems myself. While a few reflect the times..... many are eternal truths. My father is a public speaker and he was happy to receive this blast from the past that had so impacted his life. Thank you for carrying such a unique book!

Much of the poetry of Wilcox appeals to the popular audience but in this collection, Ella reveals more of her theosophic principles creating a collection that is not only lyrically beautiful but spiritually inspirational.
